What is a Personal Page?

A Personal Page in Grantpedia is your personal homepage containing information, images, etc about yourself that you would like to share with fellow Grantpedians and the world at large.

Any article you write or edit will contain your username as a link to your Personal Page and an association with your work.

This makes it easy for anyone to click on your username and find out more about you. We encourage members to create Personal Pages so their work is credited to them and to help them form relationships and contacts online.

How do I make one?

  • First, if you haven't already, you need to Sign Up Here and login then return to this page.
    • Registration is quick and free, and just requires a username and password.
    • Email is optional but not required
    • There will be a link back to this page after you finish registration.
  • You should see your username as a link here:
Your Personal Page Is
38.107.191.89

  • If you see a dotted number like '24.64.128.2' instead of your username, you probably aren't logged in.
  • If the above link is the username you chose, click on that link or click here and you will be taken to an empty page.
    • That page is your 'personal page' in Grantpedia.
    • It is just like any other page in that you can do rich formatting, links to other documents, embed pictures, etc.

What if I can't make a page from scratch?

If you would like a bit of framework to work with, you have a couple of options:

  • you can use the default user template
    • Click the edit tab in that template, and then copy and paste the text into your own Personal Page, and adjust and extend however you like.
  • or take a look at the Sample user personal page.
    • You can easily copy and paste this page and adapt it to your own use.

Can I use a form instead?

Not yet. We are working on a form and template input mechanism for creating user pages the same way as organizations and funding sources and so on to make it easier for users to construct a page without needing to use Wiki markup language.

This will be rolled out when we feel we've got it right.

Having said that, we feel a Personal Page should be personal not form based, and we encourage all users to make their Personal Page their own and feel free to use whatever styles, look and feels, and information you like.
